Tom has been in the battery industry since 2012, and co-founded Cognition Energy in 2018. His passion is improving the battery industry by understanding cells through advanced cell testing techniques and developing tools to help accelerate development. He has been CEO at Cognition Energy since its founding, and combines senior management activities along with systems engineering and product development work.

His experience includes over 5 years at Oxis Energy, where he worked on Lithium Sulfur R&D projects, understanding the needs of automotive and tech companies, as well winning customer projects and grants to fund the further development of the chemistry.

Tom has a degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Southampton and spent the early part of his career working on high performance software defining radios in Thales UK’s Electronic Warfare division.
