Alex has 40 years’ experience in high performance engineering in the UK. His early
career was in aerospace, at Westland Helicopters and Meggitt Aerospace. He then
spent 11 years at the Williams F1 team as COO and then CEO. During this period,
he established Williams Advanced Engineering to adapt Formula 1 KERS technology
for use in commercial applications. In 2014, he became CEO of Millbrook Proving
Ground, shortly after its sale by General Motors. He led Millbrook’s transformation
into an independent automotive test services providers, including a substantial
investment to create the UK’s largest battery test facility.

Alex has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College and an MBA
from Cranfield University. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and
was awarded an OBE in the 2022 New Year’s Honours List for services to the UK
Automotive Industry. As well as his role at Cognition Energy, Alex is Chairperson of
Beam Connectivity.
